Swap the hustle and bustle of London for two of the UK’s most beautiful, calming and iconic cities, Oxford and Cambridge. This unmissable day trip will be departing from Victoria in central London at 8:30am sharp – make sure you are there at least 30 minutes before to check in accordingly.

Oxford

One of our friendly and knowledgeable guides will be giving you a walking tour of the charming university city of Oxford. Steeped in history, Oxford has a vibrant yet peaceful feel that is largely enriched by its longstanding architecture and beautiful scenery. As you walk through its cobbled streets you’ll get a fascinating insight into what is home to the English-speaking world’s first ever university. And don’t forget to have your camera ready for when you see the exteriors of the Bodleian Library and the constituent college Christ Church, as well as plenty of other impressive buildings.

You will also get to see the beautiful landmark Bridge of Sighs. This distinctive skyway, which joins Hertford College and New College Lane, may share a name with the famous bridge in Venice – but that’s where any similarity ends! Look closely and you’ll see that Oxford’s skyway bears more of a resemblance to yet another iconic Venetian site, Rialto Bridge.

Cambridge

As the respective locations to two of the world’s most prestigious universities, there’s no denying that there has been (and still may be) an underlying rivalry between Oxford and Cambridge – but each of these cities have their own distinctive characters and charm!

The beautiful Cambridge lies on the River Cam and dates back to the 12th century. Best known for being the home of Cambridge University, this University City has a quaint and relaxed atmosphere thanks partly to its picturesque setting. Let your guide tell you about the city’s history as you take in all the pretty sights and architectural details.

Cambridge has its very own Bridge of Sighs too; a stunning covered bridge that crosses the River Cam between St John’s College Third Court and New Court. Again, it has nothing in common with the Venetian bridge, bearing some truly distinctive Victorian Gothic features. Such is its appeal that it is said to have been Queen Victoria’s favourite spot in Cambridge!

After your guided tours in Oxford and Cambridge your coach will head back to London, where you will get back to for approximately 7pm.

Due to a legal working hour’s restriction for drivers, if your tour arrives back in London after 7:45pm, your driver will drop you off within a couple of minutes’ walk to Gloucester Road Underground Station, not Victoria. Gloucester Road is in Zone 1 and is 3 stops on the Circle or District Lines to Victoria; it is also just 5 stops to Piccadilly Circus. The Piccadilly Line also runs through Gloucester Road.
