Tour Itinerary

Westminster Abbey is one of London’s most iconic buildings. A wealth of history, the site has been a place of worship for over 1000 years, since Benedictine monks first started gathering there in the middle of the tenth century.

Standing today as a masterpiece of gothic architecture, the stained glass that decorated the Abbey is some of the most impressive in the whole of the UK. Inside, there is plenty to explore. The Coronation Chair has been the seat used to crown every British monarch since 1308. It is where Queen Victoria began her lengthy reign and it is where Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II sat as she was crowned. It is the oldest piece of furniture in the UK that is still used for its original purpose.

Poets’ Corner is a wonderful section of the Abbey dedicated to important poets and writers in British history. Geoggrey Chaucer, Rudyard Kipling and Charles Dickens are all buried there and there are many plaques, memorial stones and busts to writers such as Shakespeare, Robert Burns and the Brontes.
